Today, June 3, 2009, with large majority vote in the Tennessee State Senate, the Tennessee legislature approved the virtually identically worded legislation protecting intrastate (TN) manufacture of guns and ammunition from meddling by the federal government. This bill, HB1796 (http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/106/Bill/SB1610.pdf), still needs to be signed by the governor of Tennessee in order to become law. The Governor of Tennessee is Phil Bredesen. His official gubernatorial website is http://www.tennesseeanytime.org/governor/Welcome.do
I believe in the citizens of each state taking care of business in their respective states. Without knowing anything else I would expect him to sign the bill, but I hope that Tennessee citizens will contact his office to make their preference known.
Here is the tect of the legislation: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/106/Bill/SB1610.pdf
The legislation passed with a sizable majority in the TN Senate and a HUGE Majority in the TN House
